About Jaime

Hi, I’m Jaime, a qualified educator with a bachelor’s degree and professional experience working in both classroom and academic support roles. I have taught and supported students within the Ontario high school curriculum, with a focus on Grades 9–12 Math, Science, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition to tutoring, I have worked in an international school setting, where I assisted students from diverse educational backgrounds, including ESL learners and those preparing for university pathways.

My experience has given me a strong understanding of curriculum expectations, assessment standards, and the common challenges students face in senior STEM courses. I am confident supporting students through everything from foundational concepts to advanced, university-level material.

I am known for being patient, structured, and highly adaptable in my teaching. I take pride in delivering clear explanations, creating organized lesson plans, and maintaining a professional and supportive learning environment. Each session is purposeful, with a focus on measurable progress, improved confidence, and long-term academic success.

Students and parents can expect reliability, strong communication, and a tutor who is genuinely invested in helping students reach their goals.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is centered on clarity, structure, and building real understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex concepts in Chemistry, Physics, and Math into simple, manageable steps, making them accessible for all students. I focus on identifying gaps in foundational knowledge and reinforcing those skills so students can confidently tackle more advanced problems.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by guided instruction on a new concept using step-by-step examples. Students then practice with my support, and we gradually move toward independent problem-solving. I regularly check for understanding and adjust the pace based on the student’s needs. Lessons often include targeted practice for tests, homework support, and strategies for approaching different types of questions.

What sets me apart is my classroom experience and ability to adapt explanations to different learning styles. I understand the Ontario curriculum well and know where students commonly struggle, allowing me to target lessons effectively. My background working with international students also helps me simplify language without losing the depth of the content.

My lessons are designed for students in Grades 9–12, including those taking academic and university-level courses in Math, Science, Chemistry, and Physics. I work especially well with students who need extra support, clearer explanations, or structured guidance to improve their grades and confidence.

Details

My standard hourly rate is $25 per hour. I also offer discounted lesson packages: 5 hours for $115 and 10 hours for $225.

Online (via Zoom) lessons are available at $25 per hour and are a convenient, effective option for most students.

In-person lessons are available for an additional $5 travel fee. Please note that in-person sessions require a minimum booking of 2 hours.

I offer a free 1-hour introductory lesson, which is conducted online. This allows us to assess the student’s needs, review goals, and ensure a good fit before continuing with regular sessions.
