About Ptolemy
I studied at Eton College, where I was a King's (academic) Scholar. I have had an interest in science, especially Physics and Chemistry, from before my time at Eton, but it was at Eton that I had my first experience of teaching others and where I learnt that I enjoyed it so much. I am currently taking a gap year, aiming to test out my post-university plans. Teaching is one of these, and this is why I am tutoring here.

I aim to teach students how to search for answers and be confident in searching. In lessons, we will focus on a few detailed problems I have prepared beforehand. I will provide further similar problems to practice after the lesson, included within the price of the lesson. Lessons are typically 45-90 minutes, going in depth on several problems and probing understanding.
I have previous experience volunteering to teach students online with this methodology to Olympiad level and also teaching assisting within several schools to GCSE level. I have worked with children who already excel, and also those who are just waiting for the right encouragement to foster their enthusiasm.
I achieved all A*s at A-level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry) and all 9s at (I)GCSE (including in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Furthermore, I have achieved high marks (Golds or above) in Olympiads and scored a score equivalent to the top 71 applicants to Physics or Physics and Philosophy on the University of Oxford's Physics Aptitude Test (PAT).
I achieved a First (75%) in the first year of my degree.
