About Caitlin

Hello! I'm Caitlin, an Oxford University Graduate offering engaging lessons in English, Maths, Computer Science and History with over two years of tutoring experience! Though I read English at University, I studied it alongside History, Maths and Computer Science at A Level which has given me a unique insight into how learning works. Learning isn't prescriptive; no one is stuck with just a 'Maths Brain' or an 'English Brain' - it's the way you learn these subjects that allows you to love them and truly excel. Through my individually tailored, engaging lessons, I've been able to help my students to really thrive, even in subjects they thought weren't 'for them'!

For the last year, I have been offering private tuition one-on-one, coaching children through their 11+ and GCSE exams - using my previous two years of professional experience at my local tuition centre to truly offer the best lessons possible!

I am also fully DBS Checked.

About the lesson

I am a passionate about making learning a fun and engaging process for my students - as one myself not so long ago, I know what methods work and which ones don't! Not every child learns in the same way and I believe that as a tutor it is my duty to tailor lessons to each student's individual learning style. When a student is taught in a style that suits them, the progress really starts to begin!

Personally, in the early days of studying for my GCSEs, I struggled with maths; I found I could only unlock the syllabus when I taught myself at home - finding a style that worked for me. I found that this works for every subject! Following the curriculum with no self-tailoring can be detrimental to progress - students can learn to the best of their abilities when they find a way that suits them! Once I'd understood the way that my brain best absorbed information, everything became easy! I'd love to help current students to do the same.
