About Mary

I am a second year Oxford English Language and Literature student who is passionate about my subject and enthusiastic about spreading my love for learning. I recently received a first in my exams at Oxford.

Having achieved 12 Grade 9s at GCSE and A*AA at A-Level, I am familiar with the curriculum and how to excel academically. I am also up-to-date about the university application process and can provide mentoring and tutoring for prospective students.

I have successfully helped a student jump from grades 4/5 in GCSE English Language and Literature to a grade 8+. I also have experience tutoring the 11+ and English as a second language to younger children.

About the lesson

The core of my tutoring methodology is adopting an individualised approach to meet the needs of each student. My lessons focus on improving a mixture of skills with a particular emphasis on exam technique and essay writing. I tailor each lesson to meet the specific goals of every student so they can reach their full potential.

I also provide mentoring and guidance for students making university applications, including to Oxbridge. This includes challenging the student through debates, critical reading as well as helping with the personal statement, ELAT and interviews.

Finally, I offer tutoring for students who are learning English as a foreign language. My lessons will be adapted to each student and their goals, integrating a focus on speaking, writing and comprehension.
