About Giana Cespedes

As a longtime lover and member of the Deaf community it has been a mission of mine to impact as many lives as I could reach. Sign language as been the greatest tool in my life to open doors of blessings. Which is why I believe it is so important for me to assist in this gift of a language to as many as possible. With my several years of experience as a ASL Interpreter and growing up advocating for the Deaf community, I know I can use my skill set and knowledge to become a valuable asset to your ASL journey. I am fluent in American Sign Language and considerate of each individuals differentiating levels and learning style. In addition, when in was being homeschooled growing up, I learned the importance and craft of carefully tailoring each lesson and step of learning to the uniqueness of each individual.
Over the years I have developed skills in assisting, advocating, educating, and coming along side many Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people in all environments. I absolutely cherish the Deaf community and plan on being apart of this culture for the rest of my life. I have also grownup in a home where you treat everyone with the utmost respect, take initiative, and set high goals of excellence.I love to serve others and to be helpful.
In addition, my studies to my Bachelor’s degree in ASL Interpretation/ Deaf studies, I completed two Interpreting programs and am a certified educational Interpreter.

About the lesson

WELCOME! SO excited you are here!

My approach:
-I tutor all age groups, levels, regardless if you had schooling in ASL or not.
-Slow, repetitive, and fun!
-Lesson plan via categories (EX: conversational, family, work)
-Occasionally will practice "voice off" approach. (No talking, ONLY signing)
-I cater mostly to students already taking ASL classes in school. I will be assisting with homework, prepping for tests, practicing "hands up time," and overall gaining confidence in your skill.
-Invitation to join for local Deaf events/gatherings (Immersion practice)
-Comfortable with remote work or in-person (if local)
