About Diana

Hello! I'm Diana, a passionate and dedicated biology tutor with a genuine love for making science feel accessible, exciting and meaningful.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology, a diploma in Environmental Planning and a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching, and years of hands-on experience guiding students through the wonders of the natural world. For two years, I led real research projects with high school students — helping them design experiments, collect data, and present their findings with confidence. I've also worked on applied biology projects in plant biotechnology and macroinvertebrate ecology, and I even designed an educational game about pollination to make complex ecological concepts fun and memorable for learners of all ages.
What I love most about teaching is seeing that “lightbulb” moment when something clicks — whether it's understanding how cells work, exploring genetics in everyday life, or discovering why ecosystems matter to our planet. I'm patient, encouraging, and always adapt my lessons to your unique learning style. My goal is not just good grades, but for you to leave each session feeling more confident, curious, and connected to biology.
I specialize in general biology, ecology, environmental science, and hands-on research project guidance — perfect for high school students (grades 9–12), IB/AP Biology, first-year university courses, homeschoolers, or anyone who wants to catch up or explore science with joy instead of stress.
If you're looking for a supportive, professional tutor who truly cares about your success and enjoyment of the subject, I'm here to help you every step of the way.
I look forward to learning and growing together!
Warm regards,
Diana

My teaching methodology and techniques
I believe science should feel exciting, relevant and achievable for everyone. My approach is patient, encouraging and highly personalized: I start by listening to your goals, your current level and how you learn best (visual aids, hands-on examples, stories or step-by-step logic). I use clear explanations, real-life connections (like how pollination affects our food or why plant biotechnology matters today), simple diagrams, analogies and interactive activities to make concepts click. I draw from my own experience designing educational games and leading research projects to bring lessons to life — no boring lectures, just meaningful understanding. I never rush: I explain until it makes sense, check for true comprehension and celebrate every progress step with you.

A typical lesson plan
A 60-minute session usually follows this gentle, effective flow:

5–10 min: Warm-up chat — How are you feeling about the topic? Any specific doubts, homework or upcoming test?
10–15 min: Quick review of previous ideas to build confidence and connect new material.
25–35 min: Main focus — I explain the core concept (e.g., ecosystems, plant biology, genetics basics or scientific method) with visuals, real-world examples and questions to keep you engaged. We explore together and I adapt instantly to your pace.
10–15 min: Practice & application — We do targeted exercises, past exam questions, or a small hands-on activity/mini-project idea (like designing a simple pollination experiment).
Last 5 min: Wrap-up — What clicked today? What still feels unclear? A short, doable homework suggestion and a positive, motivating close.

Every lesson is tailored to you — some days we dive deep into one topic, others we cover several concepts quickly before an exam.

What sets me apart as a tutor
I bring real-world experience beyond textbooks: I hold degrees in biology, university teaching and environmental planning, have led hands-on research projects in plant biotechnology and macroinvertebrates, and even designed an educational game about pollination to make ecology fun and memorable. I know how to guide students through actual scientific inquiry — from choosing a research question to presenting results — because I’ve done it with high schoolers for two years. I’m deeply patient, encouraging and passionate about helping you not just pass exams, but truly understand and love biology. My lessons feel supportive and inspiring, never judgmental — I want you to leave each session feeling more confident, curious and capable.

Who the lessons are for
I work best with:

High school students (grades 9–12) preparing for exams, IB Biology, AP Biology, science fairs or research projects.
First- and second-year university/college students taking introductory biology, ecology, plant science, environmental biology or general life sciences.
Homeschool students or adult learners who want to explore biology for personal interest, career exploration or catching up on concepts.
Anyone who feels anxious about science, has gaps from previous years, or wants a tutor who explains calmly, uses real examples and helps design fun projects.

If you’re ready to understand biology in a meaningful way — and maybe even enjoy it — I’m here to support you every step
