About Valentine

Hi there!

My name is Valentine, and I'm a French violinist currently based in Oxford, England.

I studied violin for six years at the Conservatory of Music in Nîmes, in the South of France, and passed my ABRSM Grade 8 Violin Performance exam a year ago.

Over the past 2 years, I've had the opportunity to perform with various orchestras, including the Penang Symphony Orchestra in Malaysia (South East Asia), where I lived for nine months. I've also had the privilege of performing at private events, such as weddings, religious ceremonies and celtic dance bals.
These experiences have enhanced my teamwork skills, taught me effective practice techniques, and deepened my passion for sharing music and bringing joy to others.

Now, I love sharing this experience with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them grow and develop as musicians while ensuring they enjoy their time with the violin!

I’ve been teaching violin privately for about two years to beginner and intermediate students of all ages, both online and in person. Additionally, I taught at a private school in Bouillargues, South of France, during the 2022/2023 academic year. I’m dynamic, passionate, caring, and love helping others make progress while having fun with their instrument.

About the lesson

I can teach both classical music and traditional Celtic fiddle (mainly from Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany). If you'd like to play fun movie soundtracks or pop music, that's possible too—I can arrange pieces to suit your level!

I offer 30-minute and 1-hour lessons, both face-to-face and online via Skype.

I provide all the necessary sheet music for my classes (unless you’d like to work on a specific piece). However, I do not provide exam pieces sheet music.

In each lesson, I typically include:

**CLASSICAL MUSIC:** One or two technical exercises (scales, bowing exercises, etc.), an etude, and a piece (or more, depending on your level, goals, and lesson duration).

**IRISH/CELTIC FIDDLE:** If you prefer, we can learn by ear or with sheet music (or both!). Generally, I include technical exercises (slurs, ornaments) and one or several tunes that match your current level.

I can also teach music theory up to ABRSM Grade 5.

You’re welcome to record parts of the classes (both online and in-person lessons).
