About Akshayaa

My name is Akshayaa Sivaramakrishnan, and I am a native Tamil speaker. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand. Teaching Tamil is something I truly enjoy—especially helping those who are learning it as a second language. I have a natural passion for languages and education, and I love seeing students grow in confidence as they begin to understand, speak, and enjoy the Tamil language. I aim to make my lessons engaging, encouraging, and culturally rich. Whether you’re learning Tamil for personal, academic, or professional reasons, I’m here to support you with a structured and personalized approach. Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring different cultures, learning new things, and sharing the beauty of Tamil through conversation and storytelling.

About the lesson

I’m passionate about teaching Tamil, particularly to learners who are studying it as a second language. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident and motivated. Each lesson is tailored to suit the learner’s pace, goals, and interests—whether you're a complete beginner or looking to enhance your conversational skills. My teaching approach is flexible, student-centered, and tailored to each learner’s language level and personal goals. I offer one-on-one lessons both in person and online to suit your convenience and preferred learning style. At the beginning of our journey, I conduct an informal assessment to understand your current level and learning needs. Based on this, I develop a personalized lesson plan focused on key language skills: - Speaking - Listening - Reading - Writing - Vocabulary development I incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including: - Interactive conversations to build speaking confidence - Visual aids, real-life examples, and multimedia to support understanding - Reading and listening exercises using Tamil stories, songs, and cultural media - Writing tasks with personalized feedback - Cultural insights to make learning relevant, meaningful, and enjoyable Whether we meet face-to-face or online, my goal is to create a relaxed and encouraging space where you can comfortably build your Tamil language skills. I also provide optional practice materials to support learning between sessions.
