About Opal
Hi! I’m a violin tutor with more than 8 years of experience and an Associate of Music in String Performance. I specialize in Nordic folk violin traditions like Norwegian Fiddle, Swedish Fiddle, and Klezmer. I love teaching the rhythms, ornaments, and expressive phrasing that make this music captivating.
I focus on ear-based learning, rhythmic bowing, and ornamentation. Folk jam tracks, drone tuners, and repertoire-based exercises bring lessons to life. Students learn to internalize tunes naturally and play with musical authenticity.
Lessons emphasize improvisation, phrasing, and stylistic interpretation. We work together on bowing patterns, ornaments, and subtle nuances that give each piece character. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and personalized.
