About Paul
I have over 15 years’ experience teaching Maths in secondary schools, working with students across a wide range of abilities. Much of my work has focused on KS3 and GCSE Maths, including Foundation tier and students who lack confidence or have previously struggled with the subject. I believe that Maths becomes much more accessible when it is broken down clearly and taught at the right pace. I focus on clear explanations, structured practice, and helping students feel comfortable asking questions. I have also worked extensively with younger secondary students, including Year 7 transition, and I understand how important it is to build confidence early on. My approach is calm, supportive, and focused on progress rather than pressure. I’m happy to support students with homework, exam preparation, or longer-term confidence-building, and I tailor lessons to suit individual needs.

I adapt my teaching to the individual student. I start by identifying what they already understand and where gaps or misconceptions may be. Lessons are structured, clear, and focused on building understanding step by step. I place a strong emphasis on confidence and use plenty of examples and guided practice to help concepts stick.
