About Christine
Christine has worked in School District 23's specialized Reading Intervention Program as a Literacy Support Education Assistant for 10 years. She has a Bachelor of Social Work Degree, and has had the pleasure and privilege of working with children and teens for 20+ years. She is a patient, caring, positive person with a passion for making teachable moments fun! Christine has assisted students with various backgrounds including those who are neurodivergent, and have a variety of exceptionalities in cognition, physical, and behavioral differences. She is also a mom to two great kids.

I strive to create a fun working environment where students are engaged in, and excited about their learning. I use a colored-in clock as a visual aid to chunk sessions into manageable segments. I incorporate quick, purposeful brain breaks to keep students engaged. Sessions consist of approximately 30 minutes of tailored reading strategies, and 30 minutes of reading where strategies are applied as the student reads accessible material. I offer the option of online tutoring via Zoom in the summer months or we can arrange to meet for in-person sessions. In-person sessions are, however, easier for instruction and for the majority of students. Previously I have met students in study rooms at local public libraries. I find it incredibly rewarding when students are able to see their progress, and I really enjoy working with children and teens. I look forward to hearing how we can work together.
