About Elara

Hello! I am Chi, a dedicated high school honor student based right here in Hamilton, Ontario. I have always been deeply passionate about learning, maintaining excellent grades in school, and helping younger students discover their own academic potential.

My journey into tutoring started naturally because I love working with children and helping them build their confidence. Over the years, I have developed a patient, encouraging, and structured approach to teaching. I know exactly how stressful schoolwork can feel for a child like Elara when a concept doesn't click right away, which is why I focus heavily on creating a friendly, supportive environment where mistakes are treated as valuable learning steps.

As a high school student, the elementary curriculum is still very fresh in my mind, allowing me to explain complex classroom concepts in a simple, relatable way that young minds can easily digest. I am highly organized, reliable, and fully committed to acting as both a strong academic guide and a positive role model that your child will genuinely look forward to learning from every single week.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology focuses on building core academic foundations through patience, encouragement, and interactive learning tailored to each student's unique pacing. These lessons are designed specifically for elementary school students in Grades 1 to 6 who need extra support with reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and creative paragraph writing.

Every child learns differently.

Whether I am helping a student like Elara map out an imaginative story framework, or guiding a young reader through phonics step-by-step, my goal is to make learning stress-free and highly motivating.

A Typical 1-Hour Lesson Plan Includes:

First 10 Minutes: Warm-up activity, vocabulary game, or reviewing school homework concepts.

Next 30 Minutes: Targeted focus on core skills (e.g., reading comprehension strategies or practicing creative writing structures).

Next 15 Minutes: Interactive, practical application through guided worksheets and fun writing prompts.

Last 5 Minutes: Wrap-up, positive reinforcement feedback, and setting manageable goals for the week.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with younger students on their level as a mentor, turning overwhelming curriculum milestones into exciting, manageable milestones that build lasting classroom confidence!

Details

All-Inclusive Hourly Rate: My core rate of $17.60/hour covers the full diagnostic assessment of your child’s learning level, customized lesson planning, and interactive homework tracking.

No Extra Material Fees: Parents do not need to buy expensive textbooks. I provide all necessary digital learning worksheets, creative writing prompts, and vocabulary games completely free of charge.

Public Library Meetings: If we choose to meet for in-person tutoring at the Hamilton Public Library (Turner Park Branch), there are absolutely no additional room booking or facility fees!

Travel Policy: My standard rate applies to all online webcam sessions and in-person sessions held at the library. If you require me to travel a flat $5.00 travel fee will be added per session to cover local HSR transit costs.
