About Max
With 20 years of experience teaching saxophone to college students, I focus on helping learners build both technical skill and musical confidence. My teaching style is flexible and student-centered, allowing lessons to match individual learning styles and goals.
I train students in tone development, breath support, finger technique, rhythm accuracy, and performance skills. I believe consistency and understanding are more important than speed, so I guide students step by step. Creative elements such as improvisation and musical interpretation help students enjoy learning and express themselves freely.
To support progress, I use recording feedback, play-along tracks, and personalized practice routines. These tools allow students to clearly hear their improvement. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to strengthen overall musical understanding.
I create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and improve without pressure. My goal is to help students grow steadily and enjoy their musical journey.

My teaching approach for Saxophone is focused on building clear understanding, creativity, and discipline. I believe students progress best when lessons are simple, supportive, and well-organized. I begin by teaching essential fundamentals such as proper posture, breathing techniques, embouchure control, finger coordination, tone quality, articulation, and rhythm accuracy. Each concept is explained step by step using easy language and practical exercises.
Creativity is encouraged throughout the lessons. Students are guided to explore sound, learn songs they enjoy, and practice basic improvisation. This helps them express themselves musically and stay motivated. As a mentor, I provide continuous guidance, encouragement, and honest feedback to help students build confidence.
Critical thinking is developed by teaching students how to listen carefully, identify problems in their playing, and apply correct techniques to improve. Accountability is maintained through structured practice routines, clear weekly goals, and regular progress reviews. Along with Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Rhythm Training, Ear Training, and Scale Practice to support complete musical development.
