About Oliver
Hi! I'm Oliver, I am 20 years old and study a Bachelor's and Master's in Physics and Philosophy at King's College London. I studied Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Welsh Baccalaureate at A-level, where I had to challenge myself through Covid and unreliable teaching in order to get my grades!
I decided to tutor Maths to GCSE and A level students because I know how it feels to fall out of love with a subject due to circumstances out of your control. After a lot of hard work, I managed to fall back in love with Maths, and I aim to help others begin to enjoy and achieve beyond their predictions.
I provide new methods to difficult problems I've learned since continuing my studies at university and give insight into the importance and wild consequences that occur from even the most (seemingly) mundane of equations.
Outside of my studies, I am a guitarist in a Punk band, enjoy playing basketball and have just started to learn to skate.

My approach to tutoring is to provide a deeper level of understanding within the GCSE and A level Syllabuses. I tailor my approach based on different needs of students, whether it is to catch up on topics or to stay ahead of the class. As someone who has had their fair share of difficulties in school due to Covid or Staff changes close to exams: I understand that without the catalyst of intrigue and curiosity it is easy to fall behind in a subject, particularly within GCSEs and A levels where subjects often lose their magic.
I maintain only a few pupils to ensure that students get the support they need in order to achieve beyond their predicted grades.
My previous tutee boasted AS level results (WJEC exam board) of Full marks in all 6 exams of Physics, Maths and Further Maths. He has just completed his entrance test for an Msci in Engineering at Imperial College London and is predicted 4A*s in his final year of A levels. (Reference available on request.)
I am flexible with the amount of sessions per week based on a student's needs, as well as the length of each session. However, I suggest that hour-long sessions once to twice a week are most effective, to supplement curriculum learning and provide extra practise.
I am able to travel within London for in person tutoring, as well as Zoom classes online.
