About Hannah
I'm a geeky, enthusiastic physics teacher of 14 years who is passionate about helping students to understand physics and not be scared of it. I seek to stamp out the phrase "Oh I just can't do physics" or "Physics is hard". I've taught a wide range of abilities and have had excellent results from pupils who walked into their first lesson with this exact mindset! I believe that everyone can access physics, with the right approach and guidance.
Good tutoring requires clear explanations, checking for understanding and misconceptions, and using resources, demonstrations and lots of practice to help the students to realise that yes, they CAN do this and get the grades they want! Students have described me as "approachable" and "easy to understand".
For students who are wanting to be challenged and perhaps go beyond the bounds of their current course or prepare for university, I have experience with Gifted and Talented students and enjoy bringing that spark of further knowledge and curiosity to them.
I have experience with mixed science at KS3, and physics at GCSE and IGCSE, A-Level and IB Diploma (standard and higher levels).
I currently teach full-time online live-lessons for my students aged 10-18, and have done so since lockdown in March 2020. I hope that now, with an online learning environment and so much uncertainty and inconsistency in their education, that I can use my experience to help more students to gain confidence and succeed.

My teaching approach is to first assess what the student needs and how they will learn best, and then adapt to that. For some, talking through problems and voicing their thought processes can really help their understanding, for others it could be practicing questions, or trying simulations of phenomena or experiment in lieu of being able to get "hands-on" in the lab. Overall my approach is supportive and student-centred.
