About Anushri

STEM often feels frightening, I know myself that it is extremely easy to feel overwhelmed and struggle with concepts. I’m someone who genuinely enjoys these subjects and loved studying them all at school despite tripping and falling here and again, and I want students to feel that same sense of clarity and confidence when they do too. Having recently sat them myself, I know how stressful exams can be now more than ever, so I focus on making lessons calm, supportive, and encouraging. Additionally, I have 3 years' experience peer mentoring and 1 year informally tutoring. Although I’m new to formal tutoring, I achieved A*A*AA in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths at A level, as well as grade 9s (A*s) in all four at GCSE. My current undergraduate studies in Physics also provide me with even deeper understandings of the subjects at hand. I’m patient, I explain things in a methodical way that is not intimidating, and never rush students if they need more time. My goal is to help you feel confident in and satisfied with what you are learning, regardless of what the aim is grade-wise and perhaps even find a passion for the subject for the future.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring focuses on conceptual understanding. Instead of memorising steps or formulae, I guide students to understand why certain techniques work, which is an invaluable skill with STEM subjects. Additionally, mastering exam technique is a skill in itself, one which I place emphasis on, as often marks are lost as a result of this as opposed to a lack of understanding. Since I sat these exams recently, I’m very familiar with the current specifications and question styles. This allows me to give relevant, up-to-date guidance that connects directly to what they are likely to be asked in their own exams. I understand what it feels like to prepare for GCSEs and A levels, and I use that experience to support students sitting them now. Lessons usually last around an hour to an hour and a half, with the flexibility to extend them if needed. I teach online, which makes it easy to fit sessions around school and other commitments.
