About Paolo
My name is Paolo, a pianist, arranger and music producer, lucky to be able to share the unique mix of my musical experiences: classical Italian conservatoire training, recording studio assistant for orchestral recording in London, musician and arranger for records and live shows. Proficient in different genres, you pick up your favourite pieces and I’ll give you the right training to play and perform them - be it either for ABRSM classical or jazz exams, or pure personal enjoyment.

Do you love sitting at the piano? You've got everything you need to learn! To know how to get results in a rational, but enjoyable and stress-free way - I’m here, happy to help
Whether you are a teenager or an adult, you can go below and read the right section for you. Or you can just watch the video!
LESSONS FOR TEENAGERS
I know you want to play fast and have fun with the piano! But let me tell you: it’s also paramount to get the basics right, otherwise you’ll stop improving at some point because of bad hand habits, and playing can become difficult and frustrating. Which often leads to quitting altogether - and we don’t want that.
I can help you learn the right movements and basic theory concepts to keep you going, and make music easier and more accessible. Your main part is to figure out: what music do you want to play?
If you have to do exams: yes, they will always stress you a little bit - like any performance, for any musician - but with greater confidence in your playing, they won’t be too much of a worry.
LESSONS FOR ADULTS
If you want to have lessons as an adult, it means your connection with music is profound. And you should feel empowered by this!
However, there are many shared concerns about learning piano as an adult. They can be summarised as ‘It’s too late to learn’ or ‘Piano must be learnt as a child’; basically, the stereotype that piano is only for baby prodigies. And this is not true. For most people, including successful professionals, results are just work, consistency and the right direction.
For the latter one, I’m here to help: a solid and rational understanding of the mechanics of playing can speed up your development, together with clear and accessible music theory concepts. The great thing about being an adult is that you are more aware of your body, and you can leverage other skills you have developed in your field of work or study.
Of course, it does need patience and time: I find this is the main challenge for an adult learner, compared to a child or teenager. They are in a learning mindset already, while studying piano at an older age means becoming a beginner again. Which, in my view, is an exciting experience!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Paolo has been teaching me piano for about 18 months. I’m a beginner and I really enjoy the lessons. He is:
- reliable and flexible about lesson times
- great at weaving music theory into the lesson by deconstructing pieces so that I can understand it in a ‘real’ way that doesn’t feel dry
- goes at the right pace by checking in with me about what I want to do as well as pushing me to improve skills like rhythm and sight-reading
- super patient with my progress
- lets me pick the music that interests me
- keeps the lessons fun
I can’t recommend him enough!I have been having lessons with Paolo for a year now, so glad to have found him.
As an adult learner my journey and needs differ and he really seems to get this.
I am relearning some things that were rushed or not done properly before, which while challenging is really showing results.
I am also learning a lot about music theory which again as an adult learner can often be missed or skimmed over.
I feel such a difference and I am thrilled with my progress.View more recommendations
