Hello and welcome! My name is Ambrose, and I am a highly experienced pianist with a passion for teaching, possessing ABRSM Piano Grade 8 (equivalent to RCM Grade 10). With over 15 years of experience as a professional accompanist, wedding pianist, and church organist in Hong Kong, I have developed a deep understanding of music theory and technique, and a love for sharing my knowledge with others. In addition to my performance experience, I have recently started teaching piano privately, specializing in teaching beginners. My goal as a teacher is to provide a supportive and engaging environment where students can develop their skills and reach their full potential. I pride myself on being patient, adaptable, and dedicated to each of my students. My teaching style focuses on providing a strong foundation in technique and music theory, while also tailoring lessons to each individual student's interests and goals. I believe that every student is unique and requires a customized approach to learning. I strive to make my lessons engaging and enjoyable, while also challenging students to reach their full potential.
Each lesson will begin with a brief warm-up to develop technical skills such as scales, arpeggios, and finger exercises. We will then move on to learning and practicing new pieces, with a focus on musicality, interpretation, and technique. Throughout the lesson, we will also review music theory concepts and work on sight-reading and ear training skills. Each lesson will be adjusted based on the student's individual needs and progress.
My extensive experience as a professional pianist and accompanist, combined with my passion for teaching, allows me to offer a unique perspective on learning the piano. I specialize in teaching beginners, and my patient and encouraging approach helps students build confidence and a love for music. Additionally, my ability to adapt to each student's learning style and interests makes me a versatile and effective teacher.
My lessons are open to students of all levels and ages, with a focus on beginners who are just starting their piano journey.
