About Michele

Learning music is a personal journey, and I believe that the relationship between teacher and student is at the heart of successful learning.

My approach is professional and committed, while remaining empathetic, considerate and, when appropriate, sprinkled with a good sense of humour!

I bring many years of experience teaching and performing piano and singing, together with a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to helping each student progress. I have learnt that patience is one of the most important qualities a music teacher can have — and I have plenty of it!

I have been teaching individual piano and singing lessons since 2009, working with students in South Africa, the United Kingdom and France. Teaching across different countries and with students of different ages and abilities has given me a broad perspective on how people learn and what helps them flourish.

My professional teaching experience includes holding the position of Music Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as teaching students aged 4–16 at St Stithians College for Boys, also in Johannesburg.

These experiences have strengthened my belief that there is no single formula for learning music. Every student is different. Hence, I adopt a bespoke approach to teaching.

I tailor my lessons to the individual student. I adapt learning styles, teaching methodologies, lesson materials and pace according to what works best for you.

Some students thrive with structure and clear goals; others need more time, encouragement and flexibility. My role is to understand how you learn and then find the most effective and enjoyable way to help you progress.

Whether you are a young beginner taking your first steps at the piano, an adult discovering music later in life, or an experienced student working towards a particular goal, you will receive patient, individual attention and lessons designed specifically for you.

Above all, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again. There is no judgement in my lessons — only encouragement, patience and a genuine desire to see you succeed.

My aim is simple: to help you become a more confident, capable and enthusiastic musician while making the learning process enjoyable, rewarding and uniquely yours.

Have you always wanted to play the piano or sing, but not sure where to start? Or perhaps you already have some experience and want to take your skills further?

I offer personalised one-to-one online piano and singing lessons for children and adults, in a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment — where learning is taken seriously, but there is always room for a little laughter!

Lessons built around YOU
There is no “one size fits all” approach to learning music. I adapt my teaching methods, materials and pace to suit your individual needs and goals.

Whether you want to:
• Prepare for a music examination
• Build confidence for an audition or performance
• Play or sing for friends and family
• Develop your piano or singing skills
• ️ Simply learn music for the pleasure of it
I will help you work towards what you want to achieve.

I have taught students from 4 to 72 years old, so whether you are a complete beginner, returning to music after many years, or looking to develop existing skills, you are very welcome.

Learn music, not just notes
I make music theory simple and relevant by applying it directly to the pieces you are learning. This serves to enhance the learning experience.

Lessons can include classical or jazz piano and singing, with a focus on developing your musical understanding, technique and — most importantly — your confidence.

Flexible online lessons
Choose 30, 45 or 60-minute one-to-one lessons via Zoom or WhatsApp.

In our first lesson, we'll have a chat about you, your musical experience and why you want to learn. From there, I will tailor your lessons and materials to help you progress towards your goals — at your pace.
