About Phoebe
Phoebe completed her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary. She started learning piano at four years of age. Phoebe has participated in several musical programs including school music programs, band, choir, Jazz band in Hong Kong and Calgary. During her practicum, she was a conductor in the music band for 96 students. She also taught flute and clarinet in the grade 5 band. Phoebe can speak Cantonese and she enjoys teaching piano for all ages. She has been a substitute teacher at Westmount Charter School since 2013. Phoebe offers lessons at a rate of $28 per half hour, $42 per 45 minutes and $56 per hour. Phoebe would recommend beginners (Level Prep to Level 1) to take a half-hour lesson, intermediate (Level 2 - 4) to take a 45-minute lesson, advanced (Level 5-8) to take an hour lesson and for master (Level 9+) to take at least a 1h 30min lesson with Phoebe.

I am based on using RCM, John Thompson, Leila Fletcher, and Faber books as my teaching methods. I am very flexible and able to design a suitable and unique course for any student. I believe everyone is capable of learning the piano or music in general. I can teach piano and theory from Level Preparatory to Level 10. Music theory will be taught along with practical techniques. I use digital teaching to support student learning. I believe in the triad method which is "students willing to learn and practice, parents willing to support and monitor and teachers willing to teach and provide technical skills".
The YouTube video below is one of my students that has been learning piano with me for 5 years since he was 5 years old. He had no experience when he started piano with me. He was ten years old when he played during this clip which was in the recital in December 2019. The song that he played in the clip was called "The Rustle of Spring", which is a Level 10 piece.

Details
In the future, I may go to the student's house to provide lessons. The rate will be $80/h if I go to the student's house. Otherwise, there are no additional conditions to my rate when working with students through webcams. However, students will need to purchase or print their piano textbook and theory workbook.
