About Cruz
I have spent eighteen pioneering years training more than 800 students in the most exciting frontiers of technology. My academic background includes a doctoral degree in artificial intelligence and robotics and a long career as a research scientist and engineering educator. I have led research projects in autonomous systems machine perception and human-robot interaction and have published extensively in these fields. My students have entered doctoral programs joined AI research labs and founded robotics startups. I am known for my technical depth my enthusiasm for emerging technologies and my ability to guide students through complex interdisciplinary projects. I maintain a state-of-the-art laboratory of robots sensors and computing equipment that I use for teaching demonstrations and student projects. Outside of teaching I consult on AI ethics review robotics research proposals and participate in technology policy discussions. I believe that artificial intelligence and robotics will define the future of human civilization and I am passionate about training the developers researchers and ethical leaders who will shape that future.

My programming teaching spans the cutting-edge fields of artificial intelligence robotics and embedded systems with eighteen years of experience at the forefront of technology education. I teach artificial intelligence through machine learning deep learning natural language processing and computer vision using industry-standard frameworks and real datasets. Robotics is taught through the integration of programming electronics and mechanics with students building and programming real robots that navigate sense and interact with their environment. Embedded systems are explored through microcontroller programming sensor integration and real-time control systems. I emphasize the mathematical foundations of AI including linear algebra probability optimization and information theory. My lessons balance theoretical understanding with extensive hands-on implementation students learn by building training and deploying real systems. For students preparing for research or industry careers I offer guidance on academic writing research methodology and the ethical implications of AI and robotics. I also teach the hardware-software interface including circuit design sensor calibration and motor control. Every student completes substantial projects that demonstrate their ability to create intelligent systems from concept to deployment.
