About Rita

I have been a teacher of Brazilian Portuguese and English for almost 30 years. I have taught in public, private and community schools. And also in higher education. I am a Specialist in Adult Education.
Developed teaching materials. I gave lectures and courses. I wrote two books, sponsored by the Federal Government of Brazil and Banco da Amazônia.

I have a passion for teaching, with a lot of patience and empathy for my students, especially young people and adults.

I took numerous improvement courses in Brazil and the United States. And I keep improving.

About the lesson

TEACHING METHOD AND TECHNIQUES:
1-I organize the content according to the student's needs and their personal learning characteristics. I explain how to learn and the role of sensory channels.

2-I draw up a list of contents, which the student masters, so that he can better understand his progress, step by step.

3–I use dialogues about the routine at home, at work or whatever he prefers. I create a chronological sequence of facts, in English, of a subject of interest. In this way, the student will assimilate grammatical structures without focusing on this subject.

4-I send short audios, in English, with subtitles in English and Portuguese, so that the person knows what is being said. The student must repeat these phrases several times and try to use them in everyday life, with his family or friends. In this way, it becomes common to express oneself in English.

EXAMPLE LESSON PLAN:
ENGLISH LESSON PLAN ABOUT FAMILY ROUTINE

THEME: Dialogue with the family, in the kitchen.

CONTENT: (Examples)
Would you like more hot coffee?
Could you give me the sugar, please?

STRATEGY:
1-Send the phrase in English, the translation in Portuguese and the audio via whatsapp.
2-Send words with the names of objects in the kitchen, ask the student to make small labels to stick on the objects. This way you will fix the names of things, how to write and the sound of groups of letters.
2-Use different colors for each class of words, within the sentence.
3-Provide a list of words of the same class, to create other dialog options, using the same structure.
4-Highlight groups of letters with specific sounds.
5-Ask the student to listen and repeat several times, while looking at the written sentence.
6-The student must adopt these phrases in everyday life, with family or friends.

MATERIALS:
cell phone with whatsapp
Notebook, pencils and colored pens.
Small labels with the names of objects and furniture.

ASSESSMENT:
1-Ask in English, for the student to answer.
2-Speak in English and ask the student to write.

DURATION AND FREQUENCY:
1 to 2 hours of class.
1, 2 or 3 times a week.
