About Reece

I'm a Pre-med Student at UFV majoring in Biology. Graduated with a %95 Highschool GPA and currently have a 4.20 University GPA. Previous experience includes tutoring pre-calculus and teaching guitar.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology follows three steps: Inquire - Examine - Action

Inquire:
The inquire step allows me to identify the student's goals and their own self-identified concerns. By knowing my student's goals, I can adjust my teaching strategies to accomplish their goals whether that be to get an A in a Biology class or just to pass an Organic Chemistry class. In addition, knowing the student's perspective on where their weaknesses are, allows me to identify a starting point on which topics to begin on.

Examine:
The examine step allows me to identify how the student learns best, and which topics need to be focused on. After identifying where the student feels their weaknesses are, I guide them through the material and observe which subtopics arise in confusion. Often times (can depend on the subject) confusion of one topic arises from lack of understanding in pre-requisite knowledge and if so, those areas are identified and focused on. I also observe how the student learns and understands the material best and I begin to cater my teaching style to their style of learning.

Action:
Following a tutor session and explanations of misunderstood material, follow-up action and homework is assigned. This looks different for different courses, such as memorization techniques assigned for a Biology class or practice problems assigned for a Math or Physics class. The action step assures that the student's goal can be met if they take action on their learning.

Travel charges only apply when traveling to student's homes. Meetings at libraries can be arranged to negate the travel fee. No refund or makeup sessions are given for sessions canceled with less than 24 hr notice. Additional cancellation policies explained upon registration
