About Aoife

Hi, I'm Aoife and I am a part-time maths tutor. I have been tutoring for 6 years privately and have also worked as a Maths teacher in a classroom for one year. My interest in tutoring began while I was completing my Bachelor's, as Maths (or Theoretical Physics specifically) is often taught in a specific, lecture-style way that is often not suited to all students. I truly enjoy working with my students & adapting different topics to their learning styles.

About the lesson

When it comes to Maths, any knowledge gap compounds over time & can lead to students feeling behind and lacking confidence in the subject. My approach is to encourage & support students by leading them through the course at a pace that suits them (and making sure that we tackle those problem topics in detail). I especially enjoy working with students who lack confidence and need the initial support to help them work towards their goals. I also like to ensure that students understand the importance of consistent work rather than doing a high volume of work in a short space of time. I believe that there is often the issue that students don't know how or what to study. I work with my students to develop detailed study plans during the run up to exams & help them to begin feeling confident in making their own plans. I also work with students on the Maths & Physics sections of university entrance exams, as well as the 11+. My lessons are typically 60-120 minutes long.
