(See recommendations) I also facilitate for Theatres such as Corn Exchange Newbury, Watermill Theatre, Secondary schools and run many 1-2-1 private sessions. I have a full DBS check and references to suit. I currently live in Thatcham with my wife and two children and can run sessions via Zoom to save travel time or locally for those who request this.

Find out more about Joe

  • When did you start practising? How did this passion find you?

I met a great teacher when I was a teen who taught me that preparation and professionalism were key, and that's what I still follow today! I get more passionate about acting and performing every day and I get such a buzz from sharing this with others!
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

I love Tom Hanks, he has a vulnerability and sincerity about him that makes him so believable and you cannot take your eyes off him during a film. I've also worked with some amazing British Actors, such as Roger Allam who taught me so much about the craft of acting.
  • What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

You have to be passionate about performing and be willing to work hard to be successful. Don't take yourself to seriously and be playful, find the joy in acting!
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Set yourself a goal. Whether that's to learn a monologue in the space of a week, or to note down three actors who you admire and research their journeys. Take things one step at a time so you have manageable tasks...but be open to the world around you, actors portray people, so watch the world and learn from it. And again, find the joy in the work. Acting is and should be fun.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

I live and breathe acting and performing. If I'm not on stage or screen, I'm working on my skills to be better on stage and screen, or sharing my expertise with others who want to be on stage and screen! I love what I do so much and I want to share that fire with my students.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

Being from Manchester, I'm really proud to have played a role on Coronation Street- a show I watched growing up, it's hard to break into television so I felt a sense of achievement there. Also working at the National Theatre was a dream come true- Laurence Olivier opened the building and performed there, as did many of the worlds best actors. What an Amazing feeling, taking in the applause from the audience.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Students surprise me every day. I'm always learning from my students, we discover things and make a journey together..it's brilliant to see a student's confidence grow, or see them reach their goal of getting into drama school or getting the part they have worked so hard for.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret

... I Couldn't possibly give my secrets away...but...I'm honest with my students, I ask them to work hard and when they do they get the rewards they deserve. We have fun while learning and that's a key point for me, people do their best work when they're relaxed engaged and happy to be playful. "Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life..."
