I had a few lessons with Abeni when she taught at a stage school I attended, and later went on to have one-to-one tuition with her to help me prepare for my GCSE Drama exam.

With Abeni’s support, I ended up achieving top marks, even though I had originally been predicted fairly average results. More importantly, I now feel so much more confident when approaching a script.

Before working with Abeni, I struggled with reading out loud and performing in front of people, but she helped me develop techniques that have genuinely stayed with me. They are so embedded now that I still use them in everyday life, especially when I need to remind myself of my capabilities before public speaking.

Abeni is a supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable teacher, and I’m really grateful for the confidence and skills she helped me build.

I decided to start acting lessons because I’ve always had a passion for it. I work in housing day-to-day, but acting is something I enjoyed when I was younger, and I wanted to give it another go as an adult in a safe and supportive space.

I’m so glad I did. More than anything, I genuinely have such a laugh in every lesson, and I always come away having learnt something new that I can take forward.

It’s honestly one of the best things I’ve done for myself recently, and I will definitely be continuing. Thank you, Abs!
