About Ruchika

Hi, I am Ruchika. I am a creative media professional, dancer and potter based out of Mumbai, India. Born and raised in Mumbai, I did my college education in the US. After working as a journalist in NYC for a year, I moved back home to work with various brands and media publications across the country. As a child, I studied Bharat Natyam. In college, I taught Bollywood dance to Americans and performed with them at college festivals across the country. After returning home, I happened to find belly dance classes in the building next to mine and I haven't looked back since.

About the lesson

In my classes, I aim to teach my students to connect with their bodies, release stress and tension, channel their femininity and build strength, flexibility and grace. My course is structured for anyone above the age of 6 and can work for non-dancers and dancers alike. As a student advances in their skills, I also introduce them to various rhythms and theory about the dance form if that would interest them. It is also important for me that my students build confidence in their bodies and enjoy dancing as they learn.
