I teach beginners and intermediate students. My teaching style in Bharatanatyam is 'dandayuktapaanipillayi'. In a typical classs you would begin with some dance exercises, theory regarding the origin and significance of dance and basic steps. As we proceed, the progress of a student would be dependent on his practice.
I am a professional dancer and masters student at Ivey Business School. I was born and brought up in India. I am currently in London, Ontario. I have been learning dance, meditation and yoga from a very small age. My guru's name is Smt. Sindhu Mishra.
Ritika started learning Bharatanatyam at a relatively young age of 7 years, and has become a consummate dancer by practicing it for the past 14 years. She has performed across the country and has been mentored by guru Smt. Sindhu Mishra. This passion of hers has added another dimension to her personality. She has worked hard and has performed in front of many discerning audiences.
Her first public performance was when she danced in the presence of the Vice President, Prime Minister, Delhi Chief Minister and other dignitaries at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum, to commemorate the death anniversary of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, in 2006. She then performed at special programmes on themes such as Organ Donation, each one plant one, water conservation and rainwater harvesting and save fuel organized by the Avvai Tamil Sangam, since 2010.
In 2014, She performed at YUVANOTSAV, Stein Auditorium to a resounding ovation. She also stood ‘Runner Up’ at the Zonal level Solo Dance Competition in 2015. She worked under the tutelage of Padma Vibhushan Smt. Sonal Mansingh for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and this improved her style and agility. She has performed in the Mahakala Utsav at India Gate in the year December 2015, and in the same year, at Kamani Auditorium on World Dance Day, with the world famous Pt. Birju Maharaj, and other dignitaries as part of the audience.
News of her skills preceded her and she was requested to perform a duet at NDMC Convention Centre, and at ANTARANG, Shri Ram Centre For Performing Arts, in a fusion of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, in 2016. For her commendable abilities, She was the recipient of the Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship for young Artists offered by the Delhi Government between 2016-2018.
She was selected by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre to perform at Dilli Haat, INA, and also performed at Sirifort Auditorium on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University Of Delhi, in 2017.
Owing to her unflagging passion, she gave many performances in 2018. The first one being on World Earth Day at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium. The next was at LTG Auditorium on the theme 'A Spiritual Journey through Bharatanatyam’. She performed her Bharatanatyam recital at, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, an initiative to save the girl child. This was an event organized by Urvasi Dance, Music, Art and Cultural Society supported by the Ministry of Culture. She performed at Indraprastha College Of Engineering to promote this. The most recent of her performances have been the one on the occasion of the cultural event of CRPF in the CRPF AUDITORIUM.
Ritika is a recipient of Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship and has recently performed a duet in October at Guru Ravi Jain festival 2019.

Having worked with Ritika for almost 10 years now, i can confidently say, she is an artist who has utmost dedication to her art. Ritika’s approach to dance is refreshing yet grounded with basic principles of bharatanatyam. She is a teacher with complete mix of disciplinarian and a fun tutor. Learning under her guidance would be an fulfilling journey.

Highly recommend Ritika. She is clear with her concepts and is a good dancer herself. As a teacher, she is very clear in her speech delivering the classes and is able to explain and demonstrate the difficult steps easily.
