About Jacob
I’m a professional violinist with three university degrees in music performance and over fifteen years of teaching experience. I love helping students of all ages discover their potential. In addition to violin instruction, I love incorporating elements of music theory, harmony, and ear training to give students a wide range of tools and as complete a music education as possible. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals—whether that’s preparing for auditions, exams, or simply enjoying music more deeply. I focus on building a strong technical foundation while keeping lessons encouraging, fun, creative, and inspiring, so that every student feels confident and supported in their musical journey.

Whether you’re picking up the violin for the first time, returning after a break, or looking to refine advanced repertoire, I offer personalized lessons designed to meet your goals. With over fifteen years of teaching experience and a career as a professional violinist, I have worked with students of all ages and levels. My approach is both rigorous and encouraging: I emphasize strong technical foundations, musical expression, and efficient practice habits, while keeping lessons engaging and tailored to each student’s interests. My technical background is firmly rooted in the Galamian school philosophy, with elements of Alexander technique. Lessons can focus on classical repertoire, technique, audition preparation, or even creative projects such as arranging and cross-genre playing. I also integrate elements of music theory, ear training, and performance skills to give students a well-rounded musical education. I teach in both English and French, online or in-person, and I welcome students to my home studio in downtown Montreal. My priority is helping each student progress with confidence, enjoyment, and a deeper love for music.
