About Denis

Hi, I'm Denis. I've been working with video for over ten years, and these days I run my own video production studio. Across that time I've delivered more than 160 projects, so I bring a lot of hands-on, real-world experience to my teaching. My experience covers a wide range, from wedding films to television projects, and I've made YouTube videos that reached millions of views. I also spent time as creative director at a foodtech startup, where I was responsible for the content across both organic and paid channels. That mix taught me how to edit for very different goals, whether it's a client deliverable, a social feed or a story that needs to hold someone's attention. And if you don't just edit but also shoot your own footage, even better. I'm happy to give advice on filming and production too, including how to plan things out before you shoot. A bit of thinking at the pre-production stage saves you a lot of trouble later, long before you get to the edit, so we can look at that side as well if it's useful for you. I still work in the field every day, so I'm not teaching from old notes. I teach the same tools and approaches I actually use, and I enjoy helping people get comfortable with editing and start creating work they care about.

About the lesson

Every student comes in at a different level, so the first thing I do is figure out where you are and what you actually want to achieve. Editing for social media is a different job from editing for a client or a YouTube channel, and the plan should reflect that. Once I know your goal, I build a training plan around it instead of running you through a generic course. The way I teach is simple. First I show you how everything works in the software, walking you through the interface clearly so it actually makes sense. Then I give you practical assignments to work on, because that's what makes new information stick and pushes you to grow. In a typical session we cover DaVinci Resolve directly, from the interface itself to editing, color grading and motion graphics. Alongside the technical side I explain the thinking behind each decision and how I'd approach a real task, so you understand why something works and not just which button to press. The main thing I bring is that I still do this for a living. I run my own video production studio, so what I teach comes from current work rather than theory. Over the years that's included everything from wedding films to television projects, YouTube videos with millions of views, and a stretch as creative director at a foodtech startup where I made content for both organic and paid channels. Lessons work well for complete beginners through to intermediate editors who want to speed up, think more like a professional and get results you'll be proud to show.
