About Christine
I have been in love w/ music since I was old enough to plunk away at my grandpa's organ (2 yrs old!) I took lessons until receiving first class honors at the highest RCM level. While in school, I received the MADD fest top ‘award of excellence’ for piano performance, & was a well-known performer in the Young Peoples concerts held locally in our town. Now I am an RCM certified teacher w/ 30 years experience teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Music from UBC - music education major - specializing in piano, voice, & guitar. I am an award-winning singer/songwriter, & was also recognized for 3 nominations through the Gospel Music Association of Canada. For GMA, I have also been a judge for one of their awards season, as well as Delta's Got Talent in our town here. Aside from teaching, I am a piano accompanist for the South Delta Singers, Music worship leader at Lighthouse church, as well as the In House soloist for our local live music Wander Inn Cafe. I have performed in over 100 concerts throughout my lifetime, & continue to perform in & around Vancouver. I also have extensive professional teaching experience in voice, & guitar, as well as ukulele.

My lessons are well-rounded, offering a blend of theory, important technical exercises, as well as repertoire. For young beginners, I follow the Faber methodology - an exciting & fun approach to piano, offering ear training, sight-reading, games, exercises, improvisation, as well as fun pieces to play. For the adult beginner, I usually follow the Alfred adult book, which offers a faster approach to learning. For those looking to transfer into a more disciplined approach, RCM is available. I prepare students for exams, & can set them up for long-term success w/ the instrument. I teach from 5 yrs & up - 99! I also teach all genres of music (classical, pop, jazz - you name it! I also give all my students concert experience (2 times per year), so they may feel a sense of accomplishment & build confidence in their skills. I am a very patient teacher & work at the individual pace of the student. It is my joy to work with those passionate about music! Please note: FIRST LESSON IS NOT FREE!!
