About Marius

My parents (father - music teacher and composer; mother - opera singer) exposed me very early in my childhood to music, opera, musical theatre. I started studying piano at 6 years old. After completing my education in Romania - my country of origin - I became very active on the music scene as pianist, composer, and music producer. I became a member of the Association of Composers and Musicians in Bucharest working with top artists. In 1996 I relocated to Canada where I continued playing, producing, and teaching music. Sharing my knowledge and experience with the young students has been my main focus and has been very rewarding.

About the lesson

I am passionate about music and I truly have a vocation for teaching. I think that a good music teacher is not only a good musician. Besides mastering his instrument, he should be able to give the student the best learning tools and show him how to use them in the most efficient way. A good music teacher is also a mentor, a motivator. It is often said "Music is fun" but learning how to play an instrument takes a lot of practice, commitment, and self-discipline. It is the teacher's role through pedagogical approach and personality to keep the student interested and motivated. I am happy to say that, throughout my teaching career, I've always managed to inspire numerous students to try harder, to improve constantly, and to understand and appreciate music. The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) offers a solid curriculum and a system of examinations organized in 10 levels. The examinations offer piano students an official recognition of their efforts and a system of evaluation of their piano skills and musicianship. It is more intense and demanding. 2. For those who want to study piano at their own pace, (having more flexibility in choosing the repertoire and without the pressure of exams and deadlines) there are very good popular methods which I use. No matter the path, there are common principles and skills to be acquired in order to play piano. It takes 6 months to 1 year to learn the basics and at least 3 years to get to the intermediate level. I work with a very diverse repertoire encouraging students to explore various styles of music: classical, pop, jazz, movies, TV, Broadway, etc. I am a musician myself and I know how important it is for the young students to try music that they hear on the radio, TV, etc.

Marius was teaching my daughter piano for several years, and his passion for music has always been captivating. Marius is very professional, patient and consistent in his teaching methods. I liked that he was focused on quality and development of technical skills from the very beginning. Marius also knows how to keep a kid interested and engaged in the lesson. What my daughter liked the most is that Marius didn’t just teach her the classic stuff by the book, but also could help her learn some popular songs she was interested in at the time. Delivery of music lessons at home was super convenient. In addition, we always enjoyed the concerts organized by Marius twice a year where students were performing and demonstrating their talents.
