About Mark

I am a professional pianist, award-winning organist, conductor, and music educator with more than 50 years of professional experience and over 50 years of experience teaching private students. I have worked with piano students of all ages and ability levels, from those taking their very first lesson to accomplished musicians seeking to refine their technique, musicianship, and interpretation.

Throughout my career, I have performed extensively as both pianist and organist and directed music programs and choirs for children and adults. My teaching combines high professional standards with patience, encouragement, humor, and a genuine love of helping each student discover and develop their own musical abilities.

About the lesson

Piano lessons are thoughtfully tailored to each student’s goals, abilities, and musical interests. I build a strong technical foundation while developing sight-reading, musicianship, expressive interpretation, and a lasting enjoyment of music.

Students of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced pianists—are welcome. Repertoire is chosen with each student’s interests and development in mind, whether the goal is learning for personal enjoyment, building solid skills, preparing repertoire, or advancing to more challenging literature.

My approach is patient, encouraging, and professional, with an emphasis on helping each student become a confident, independent musician rather than simply learning to play one piece after another.

Over the years, I have come to know Mark not only as an outstanding organist but also as a wonderful choral director. His knowledge of music is vast; even more, his ability to impart his love of music to choristers and students is remarkable. Mark instills confidence in individual singers and choral groups so that they can continue to grow both as individuals and musicians. He is sensitive to the needs of his students and choristers, providing constant encouragement.

Thirty-minute lessons are often ideal for younger beginners, while 45- and 60-minute lessons allow additional time for technique, repertoire, musicianship, and interpretation.
