I am a professional software engineer with years of experience in all aspects of computer software development, having worked for many established engineering firms in the Vancouver area - including:
- Point Grey (acquired by FLIR Integrated Imaging Systems)
- Creo Products Inc. (acquired by Kodak, Inc.)
- MDA Systems Ltd.
- Dynapro Systems Inc. (acquired by 3M)
I have mentored and guided many other developers on the job and it has been a strength to teams I have worked on.
I also taught computer programming and was a teaching assistant at UBC during my post-graduate years.

I have a knack for explaining complicated things in simpler terms that can help anyone understand them. I am very approachable and patient in my guidance and will take the time to explain reasons why a computer program is designed a specific way.
I am very flexible in my approach to tutoring and mentoring, depending on the needs of the student, but prefer a hands-on approach with real-world programming tasks.
I don't just teach the rules/syntax of a programming language, but also best practices for program design. I have been known for writing clean, unit-tested code and have a reputation for providing excellent feedback and insight when performing code reviews.

My rates vary depending on the level of the student / content and is subject to negotiation:
High school to 1st-year university (beginner) @ $20 / hr.
2nd-year university to grad (intermediate) @ $27 / hr.
Working professional (advanced) @ $35 / hr.
Terms for travel beyond 12 km will need to be discussed.
