About Carol

I am a Cubing East Auckland coach and also run a YouTube Channel - Kiwi Cuber - that has helped primary school students to high-schoolers learn to solve the Rubik's cube and helped speedcubers become world record holders! I enjoy working with people of all ages and am very flexible. I am sponsored by New Zealand and Australia's largest speedcube store (speedcube.co.nz) and have a discount code ('KIWI') which can be used online, demonstrating my credibility and impact as a top New Zealand speedcuber. I have held the 2x2 New Zealand record, and gained top placings in National Championships (including 1st place) and North Island Championships. I am the current female oceanic record holder for multiple WCA (Rubik's cube) events. My WCA ID (competitive speedcubing profile) is 2019CHAI04. I have 7 years of speedcubing experience (first learning as a young child myself) and 4 years of coaching experience.

About the lesson

For absolute beginners looking to solve a Rubik's cube, I teach a simple and easy method that can be mastered within 1-3 weeks ($35/hour). For speedsolving pursuers, I specialize in 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, pyraminx, megaminx, skewb, square-1, and clock but coach all WCA events (except FMC). Below are my own solving times for my specializations ("average") and the skill levels I teach up to: [average | skill levels taught] - 2x2: 1.7 seconds | beginners to sub-2 seconds -3x3: 7 seconds | beginners to sub-8 seconds - 4x4: 33 seconds | beginners to sub-35 seconds - 5x5: 1 minute and 5 seconds (1:05) | beginners to sub-1 minute -Pyraminx: 2.5 seconds | beginners to sub-3 seconds -Skewb: 3.8 seconds | beginners to sub-4 seconds Megaminx: 45 seconds | beginners to sub-50 seconds Square-1: 14 seconds | beginners to sub-20 seconds Clock: 7 seconds | beginners to sub-5 seconds. Coaching can range from a one-off, self-tape solve critique for 12 solves ($25) to $40+/hour lessons for more specialized, one-on-one catered coaching. Details

Beginners: Those who cannot solve a Rubik's cube or only know the basic beginner's method a respective puzzle (e.g. standard 3x3) - $35/hour to teach basic concepts of the puzzle, algorithms, tips/tricks, etc. One-off critiques: Solve critiques for short-term improvement are offered for all solvers, $25 flat fee for 12 solves to be critiqued (contact me for more information). Online Lessons VS In-Person Lessons: $35/hour for online or $40/hour for in person lessons are recommended - will help you learn the fastest and help you get faster very quickly; expert advice and recommendations catered for your specific needs. $5 travel fee for in person lessons at your home in Auckland (fuel and travel time).
