About Ed

I hold a First-Class Degree in Mathematics from the University of Exeter and have experience teaching in two leading UK independent boarding schools - Blundell’s School and Cranleigh School. Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to help students build confidence, master key concepts, and reach their full potential in mathematics. After several rewarding years in full-time teaching, I stepped out of the classroom to pursue a professional hockey career — an experience that strengthened my discipline, focus, and ability to perform under pressure. Alongside this, I founded and now run a full-time tutoring business, tutoring students Cranleigh School, Charterhouse, St Catherines, St Johns, Priorsfield amongst others.

I continue to coach hockey at Cranleigh School, balancing this with my tutoring work, hockey career and family life — including raising three young daughters under the age of six! This balance keeps me grounded, organised, and always aware of the importance of patience, encouragement, and motivation in helping young people thrive.

About the lesson

I’m a dedicated Maths tutor who believes that every student can develop confidence and even enjoyment in the subject with the right guidance and support. Many learners find Maths intimidating at first — my role is to change that perception. Through tailored lessons and patient explanations, I help students break down tricky ideas, build lasting understanding, and take ownership of their learning journey. I’ve seen time and again that when students start to see real progress, their confidence grows — and with that, their motivation follows. My mission is to make that transformation happen for every learner I teach.
