About Ariel
Graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master's degree in Violin Performance under professor Levon Ambartsumian and currently employed by the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra in his home country. Serving as a concertmaster and associate concertmaster Ariel has toured countries such as Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lebanon with both the World Youth Orchestra and World Youth Chamber Orchestra under conductor Damiano Giuranna. Polycarpo was also a member of the Arco Chamber Orchestra (USA) and Sphaera Mundi Baroque Orchestra in Brazil. Awarded second prize at the 2019 Concorso Internazionale di Musica Citta di Stresa in Italy (no age limit strings section). Also second prize at 2018 Gramado in Concert International Young Soloists Competition, first prize at 2012 UFSM Festival Competition and winner of the 2010 and 2012 Fundarte Young Soloists Competition, all in Brazil. Semifinalist in the II Violin Festspiele Competition by Thomastik Infeld Vienna and III Waslau Borkowski Competition. Polycarpo is also a Britten-Pears Young Artist 2020 having taken part in the 2019 and 2018 orchestral programmes as well. Has taught violin masterclasses in Syria in 2022.
