A passionate advocate for community engagement, Sory served as a teaching artist with the Yale Music in Schools Initiative while attending Yale University. She currently serves as a Postgraduate Fellow there, where she collaborates with New Haven public school teachers to provide classroom instruction and ensemble coaching to a diverse range of students, from elementary to high school. She will join the faculty of the Yale Morse Summer Music Academy, where she will teach chamber music and work with young musicians. She also co-directed the Yale School of Music Korean Alumni Association Peace and Harmony Concert to enhance cultural experiences within the community.
She will be pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the CUNY Graduate Center with Mark Steinberg. Previously, she received her Bachelor of Music at New England Conservatory under Soovin Kim, her Master of Music at The Juilliard School under Ronald Copes, and her Master of Musical Arts at Yale School of Music where she studied with Ani Kavafian and her quartet awarded Broadus Erle Award.

Drawing upon over five years of teaching experience, I have taught students in a wide variety of settings—including private lessons, sectional rehearsals, chamber coaching, and classroom environments. I am equipped to teach students of all levels, ranging from absolute beginners who have never held an instrument before to advanced students currently preparing for college auditions, youth orchestra auditions, or local competitions. Additionally, I offer classes in music theory and music history for both students just beginning their musical journey and those wishing to deepen their understanding of the subject.
During my time running a private studio in the past, several of my students showed their achievement by getting accepted to the Special Music School and the New Jersey Youth Orchestra, as well as winning local competitions. I am confident in my ability to guide students toward making tangible and significant progress in their performance skills; at the same time, I prioritize accessibility and student engagement, tailoring my unique instructional methods to meet the specific needs of each individual student.
