About Oleg
“[Oleg Larshin] took center stage in the orchestra’s season opener Saturday night, delivering an impressive, if self-effacing, performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. [...] Larshin played the opening theme of this well-known concerto with breadth and confidence before moving easily into the intricate and technically challenging trills and passagework of the second theme, all while maintaining striking musicality.” (Wayne Lee Gay, Texas Classical Review).
Praised for his technical control and depth of sound, Larshin has performed extensively as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in Russia and the United States. Some of his most recent solo appearances include performing Bruch Concerto with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Concerto with the TCU Symphony Orchestra and Roberto Rodriguez’ Xochiquetzal with the Meadows Percussion Ensemble.
He has also performed as a soloist with the Michigan State University Orchestra, the Moscow Special Central Pre-Conservatory Music School Orchestra and the Moscow State Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Mark Gorenstein, Beau Benson, Alexander Yakupov, Jon Lee, Robert Austin, German Gutierrez.
While living in the United States, he has performed in chamber music ensembles with distinguished faculty members of Southern Methodist University and University of North Texas, such as Susan Dubois, Matt Albert and Nicola Ruzevic, as well as other musicians like Dzmitry Ulasiuk, Mai Ke, and Hannah Thomas-Hollands.
Larshin has also worked with major orchestras, such as the Big Symphony Orchestra named by “P. I. Tchaikovsky,” with whom he toured Europe and Asia, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra and Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Opera Orchestra. He also regularly plays with the Orchestre Classique de Montréal, Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil, Fort Worth Symphony, Plano Symphony Orchestra and Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra.
Larshin started his musical studies at the age of 7 with professor Zoya Mahtina. He then continued his studies with Eduard Gratch (Moscow Conservatory), Dmitry Berlinsky (Michigan State University) and Emanuel Borok (Southern Methodist University). In 2019, he completed an Artist Diploma program under the guide of Elizabeth Adkins at Texas Christian University.
Larshin has over 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels. He focuses on developing a strong technical foundation to allow the student to play freely any style of repertoire. He has taught privately, as well as at the Classic Music Institute of Texas and the Rockwall School of Music in North Texas. He can teach in English and in Russian.

My teaching methods vary depending on the student, but I always spend some time on basic music theory in order to give general knowledge about music.
With beginners, I dedicate time to setting up a proper hand position, which speeds up the learning process later on and gives the opportunity to play a wider repertoire.
With intermediate and advanced students, I work a lot on technique and on fixing weak spots by giving certain exercises and etudes that develop specific techniques. Along with that, I work on concertos or other pieces to develop the student's musicality. At this stage I also dedicate time to harmonic and structure analysis of musical works.

Perfect! Oleg is an excellent teacher! He improved my sound and my bowing over only a week's time. He is extremely certified with lots of technical experience. I would recommend him to anyone!
Perfect! Patient, kind, knowledgeable!
Oleg is willing to take his time and find the right way to explain a concept for his student to get it.
Very grateful to have found him to teach me the violin!Perfect! There is no doubt that my violin skills have significantly improved since I first began taking lessons with Oleg. As an extremely qualified violinist, he caters his lessons to the individual student and aims to better the student’s techniques and musicality. Oleg is an exceptional teacher who is insightful, patient, and diligent, and someone I would recommend to others looking for a violin instructor.
Perfect! Oleg assertively knows where you need to improve and fixes it as soon as he sees it. You’ll take the most out of the time with him, since he is focused and pays attention to what you are doing. I feel I improve with him at a very fast rate, which is no surprise as he is extremely qualified. It is the tiny little tips and tricks that he knows that make a difference. He really adapts to your needs instead of giving a general class. I would definitely recommend him.

I have been Oleg’s student since 2018, for both in person and online lessons. I was an adult beginner on the violin, and he patiently worked with me to improve my sound and technique and consistently made sure that the material I was learning was the just the right level for me.
