About Isabella
I’m studying psychology, but I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, child and adolescent psychology. I’m hoping to eventually pursue a career in education.
At school, not everything science-y came naturally to me, but I was able to take my grades from Bs and Cs in Year 12 to As and A* s in Year 13 - I know better than anyone that these subjects can be tough at first, but a patient, engaging teacher can make all the difference. I am dedicated to helping students not only improve their understanding of content but also build confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.

A typical lesson with me follows this kind of structure:
Check in! Ask about my students' week: did they get up to anything fun, was there anything particularly challenging in any of their classes, etc.
Identify the learning objectives of the lesson - make it clear from the start exactly what to expect from the lesson and set a goal to be reached by the end.
Start with a warm-up activity: a fun quiz, a brainstorming activity, a knowledge dump - whatever works best for the student and gets them in the right headspace for learning.
Refresh the student on the topic of the lesson: this involves giving a clear explanation of what's being covered - while explaining, I'll ask my students questions to check their knowledge, keep them engaged and build confidence.
Work through some questions together: we'll start simple and increase difficulty. Sometimes, we might need to stay on one difficulty level, and that's totally okay! While I want to push my students, I don't want them to feel like they're being thrown in the deep end - this'll only cause a lack of confidence.
Finish with a "Feedback Five": This is a quick quiz to assess students' progress in the lesson, see if they met the lesson objectives, and give them the chance to give any written feedback/suggestions for the next session.
This lesson plan is just a guide - each student has different goals, and I will adjust the lesson plans accordingly. It's important to have an open dialogue with students about their learning.
