About Sancha

In my spare time I enjoy: reading, particularly the works of Harlan Coben and Jodi Picoult; baking; singing; and keeping fit. From a young age, drama has been a huge passion of mine and I had the pleasure of teaching it during my first school experience placement. I have a huge passion for travelling and experiencing new people, places and cultures. I am a stronger believer in the idea that world is my oyster and am on a mission to travel to 30 different countries before the age of 30. This love for travelling led to me relocating to Dubai last year so that I could mix two things that I love the most - teaching and travelling! And the opportunity has provided me with the ability to subsequently travel to countries like Sri Lanka, during the school breaks.

Hello, I'm Sancha, an enthusiastic and dedicated English teacher with over 4 and a half years of experience in teaching secondary English in London and internationally in Dubai. My passion for education is rooted in empowering students to excel in English, and I specialise in the British curriculum for ages 11-18. My diverse teaching background equips me to provide tailored tutoring services to students of all ages, including specialised guidance for SATS, 11+ exams, and beyond. Having taught in a range of comprehensive schools in London and an international British curriculum school in Dubai, I have honed my skills in delivering engaging lessons that resonate with students from various cultural backgrounds. My tutoring approach is student-centred, focusing on building strong foundations in language skills, critical analysis, and exam strategies. I understand the unique challenges students face, and I am adept at fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages confidence and academic growth. In addition to subject expertise, I offer assistance with personal statement and CV writing, providing comprehensive support for students aspiring to further their education. I am committed to nurturing a love for English while helping students achieve their academic goals. Let's embark on this learning journey together, where academic success meets personalised guidance. My English tuition sessions are typically an hour long, carefully structured and meticulously planned based on my pedagogical knowledge as a teacher. Each session begins with a starter task, often involving retrieval exercises that help students recall key information from previous lessons, reinforcing their understanding and embedding knowledge in their memory. The main portion of each lesson is tailored to the individual needs, abilities, and interests of each student, with a range of engaging activities designed to foster their specific strengths and address areas for improvement. Sessions conclude with a knowledge check to assess each student’s understanding of the lesson content. This allows me to identify any areas that may require revisiting before progressing to new topics, ensuring a solid foundation. Additionally, I create bespoke spelling lists for students who need extra spelling support and provide personalised reading lists to inspire a love of reading and build literacy confidence.

Sancha is an amazing English tutor, she really helped me with structuring paragraphs, writing techniques and making sure I was hitting criteria to make sure I was getting the top marks with my essays. I was able to use her for GCSEs and because I did so well I went on to use her for help with History A-levels which is a essay heavy subject and achieved top marks. Would fully recommend!!
