About Courtney

Hello! My name is Courtney, and I am a college instructor, Health Information Management professional, and lifelong learner with a passion for helping students succeed.

My educational journey has taken me through Veterinary Technology, Health Information Management, and Teaching for Learning in Applied Education. Today, I have the privilege of teaching future healthcare professionals at the post-secondary level, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to achieve their goals.

What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students realize they are capable of more than they think. Many learners come into a course feeling overwhelmed by medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, or healthcare concepts. Seeing that moment when a difficult topic finally "clicks" is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I believe learning should be supportive, engaging, and tailored to the individual. Every student learns differently, and I strive to create a comfortable environment where questions are encouraged, mistakes are part of the learning process, and progress is celebrated.

Outside of teaching, I am passionate about healthcare education, professional development, and helping others discover what excites them about their chosen field. I firmly believe that success comes from combining knowledge with curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to keep learning.

About the lesson

Medical Terminology and Pathophysiology can feel overwhelming at first, with unfamiliar language, complex disease processes, and countless terms to memorize. My teaching approach focuses on making these subjects understandable, meaningful, and easier to remember.

As a college instructor in Health Information Management, I help students move beyond memorization by teaching them how medical terms are built and how body systems, diseases, and conditions are connected. Rather than simply learning definitions, students develop the skills to break down unfamiliar terminology, understand disease processes, and apply their knowledge to real-world healthcare situations.

Lessons are tailored to each student's learning style, academic goals, and course requirements. Whether you need help with anatomy and physiology foundations, medical terminology, pathophysiology concepts, exam preparation, assignments, or study strategies, I provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment where questions are always welcome.

My goal is to help students build both competence and confidence. By breaking complex concepts into manageable pieces, using practical examples, and reinforcing key connections between terminology and disease processes, I help students gain a deeper understanding that supports long-term success in healthcare-related programs.
