About Penelope
I’m a qualified maths teacher with experience in secondary school teaching and one-to-one tutoring. I have recent experience in online tutoring and can use any platform that suits.
As well as my PGCE I have an MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and can also deliver tutoring in Physics, Mechanics and related topics.

I am passionate about mathematics and think too often students are taught to “pass exams” through tricks and process repetition without learning the fundamentals. This often makes it harder for students to link ideas together or hypothesise new theories themselves.
I like to start by unpicking the student’s knowledge to find where the gaps are and filling these in. This technique makes it easier to remember content as so much of it is built on the same core skills.
