My name is Amanda or Miss V! :)
As a teacher, I prioritize my students above all. It is so important to me to create engaging lessons that draw upon my students' interests and learning needs. I am always looking for feedback from my students to improve my teaching and enhance their learning!
As a human, I love coffee, my dogs, and spending time with my family. A morning walk with my family, coffee in my hand, dogs by my side is my happy place! I also love all things artsy + crafty! I love to incorporate creative activities in my lessons whenever possible.

I am a student-centered teacher who plans her lessons around my students' needs.
I start with an open session where students and their adults can express areas of concern for the student. This provides a chance for the student and I to get to know one another, and for me to gain a better understanding of what academic areas the student needs the most help with.
Based on the student's needs, I plan my lessons using a minds-on; activity; and reflection format. Minds-on simply means turning our minds on to the subject! This can look like a fun brainwork activity, a game, or an open-ended question. The activity will relate to the subject or area the student and I are addressing at the time (i.e. problem-solving, writing, math equations, etc.). Finally, we will reflect upon the work together to address areas that were challenging and acknowledge strengths and successes!
Depending on the student they may need additional activities to work on at home/with family, and I will provide relevant activities as needed.
Every child and student is different and so are their learning needs! I work with my students to ensure their personal learning needs are the top priority in our work together.
I am qualified to teach Kindergarten through Grade 6 however, I have experience providing feedback and editing on University level academic work and am open to supporting grades K-12 and College/University students.
My strengths in post-secondary courses are in English, Social Work, and Social Sciences. I am qualified in all subjects K-6 and can accommodate English, Art, Health, and Social Studies for 7-12.
