About Nicolas
I am an incoming Queen’s University student offering online tutoring in English, Social Studies, History, essay writing, and English support for Spanish-speaking students.
My goal as a tutor is to make schoolwork clearer, less stressful, and easier to manage. I help students understand assignments, organize their ideas, improve their writing, and build confidence in their academic skills. I focus on practical support, meaning I work with students on the actual skills they need for school: reading comprehension, paragraph structure, essay planning, grammar, editing, studying, and written responses.
I also offer English support for non-native speakers, especially Spanish-speaking students. Since I speak both English and Spanish, I can explain difficult vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and sentence structure in a way that is easier to understand.
I am patient, organized, and straightforward in my teaching style. I do not complete assignments for students, but I guide them through the process so they understand the material and can improve on their own. My lessons are designed to be supportive, professional, and adapted to each student’s level and goals.
My tutoring is best for middle school and high school students who need help with English, Social Studies, History, essay writing, assignment planning, or English language development.

My Approach as a Tutor
My tutoring approach is practical, clear, and focused on helping students understand what they are being asked to do. I help students break down assignments, organize their ideas, improve their writing, and build confidence in English and Social Studies.
For English, I focus on reading comprehension, paragraph structure, essay writing, grammar, thesis statements, editing, and making writing sound clear and natural. For Social Studies, I help students understand historical events, causes and effects, political ideas, government, geography, current issues, and how to write stronger written responses.
I also offer English support for non-native speakers, especially Spanish-speaking students. Since I speak both English and Spanish, I can explain vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, sentence structure, and meaning in a way that is easier for Spanish speakers to understand.
Teaching Methodology
My teaching style is based on clear explanation, guided practice, and step-by-step improvement. I do not simply give students the answer. Instead, I help them understand the material, organize their thinking, and learn how to complete similar work on their own.
I usually begin by identifying what the student is struggling with, whether it is understanding the assignment, organizing ideas, writing clearly, studying for a test, or improving English fluency. From there, I explain the topic in simple terms and work through examples with the student.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson may include:
Reviewing what the student needs help with
Breaking down the assignment or topic
Explaining the key concepts clearly
Creating an outline, study plan, or practice example
Working through the task together
Reviewing mistakes and improving the student’s answer
Giving simple next steps for practice after the lesson
For language learners, lessons may also include conversation practice, pronunciation help, vocabulary review, grammar explanation, and real-life sentence practice.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is that I focus on making schoolwork feel less confusing and more manageable. Many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because they do not know how to organize their ideas, understand the instructions, or turn their thoughts into clear writing.
I explain things in a straightforward way and adapt to the student’s level. I can also support Spanish-speaking students who are learning English by explaining difficult concepts in both languages when needed.
