About Jay

Hello, my name is Japheth, but feel free to call me Jay!
I graduated cum laude with an Associate Degree in Interpreting Training Technology. I currently interpret in the K-12 educational field. I enjoy working directly with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. I'm am delighted that I can help in facilitating communication. Since I myself was a student learning American Sign Language in the past, I understand exactly what students need to do in order to learn this amazing language. I have also completed Educational Teaching courses!

We are in this together. I am open to any suggestions you have that will help your experience even smoother. Whether you are learning ASL in K-12, College, or you are trying to learn a language as a hobby, I am willing to help you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will reply to you quickly.

About the lesson

I know the struggles that many students have when learning a new language so I will do everything I can to explain complicated concepts in easier terms. I will never forget my Professors who actually took the time to clarify the coursework instead of deeming me as a lost cause. I like adapting my lesson plans to the student because everyone learns differently.

This first lesson offered with Jay will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

For in person lesson I charge $30/hr within a 15 mile radius. For travel further than 15 miles an extra $5 will be charged to the lesson fee. Alternatively, you can try my carfully crafted online tutoring for only $25/hr. I prefer to do lesson a quiet public spaces.
