I am very flexible and not adverse to using a variety of methods to meet the needs of every student. Enthusiasm and fun are the top two examples. A whole language approach with phonetics thrown in as a start. Selecting specific reading material to match the child's interests and reading level. Being an on-going role model and choosing appropriate activities to participate in to reinforce the lesson goals is a top priority. I prefer to engage in active, moving, interactive role playing rather than worksheets to help retain the objective of the lessons. I am always ready to try something new if it is going to help my student. I love reading it is my passion and I want everyone to be able to experience my love of reading.
I am a retired elementary school with 26+ years experience working with special needs students in all subject areas. Reading is a passion of mine and I want to give every child the chance to enjoy the benefits of reading.
