I like to teach students to converse first; to use the language in everyday situations. Grammar is important as well as reading. For primary students, understanding vocabulary and association of words or expressions are important. For secondary students, their ESL learning should include oral expression, reading and writing skills according to their vocabulary curriculum. Adults prefer to have conversation lessons either one on one or in groups. Of course, this does not exclude those adults who need to function in administrative settings where reading and writing skills are required.
