• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  Growing up in the 90s and 2000s computers were not yet part of our day to day life yet. I remember some videogames, the first Ipod and then suddenly the whole world changed and we cannot imagine life without technology anymore.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  Architecture has changed drastically with BIM softwares. Some tasks became extremely quick and others suddenly required a huge amount of data to be completed. But I believe the real revolution came when Covid hit and the entire world shifted toward remote working.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  I come from the old-fashioned Italian universities of Architecture where,despite innovation and technology, we were still strongly encouraged to draw by hand. I developed a parallel fascination for BIM and decided to develop a deeper knowledge in what I believe will be the future of architecture. Teaching Revit indeed became one of my strong skills since I come from the generation of the transition and experienced life before and after technology.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  They do, no doubt, however coming from European Universities I take inspiration and have my roots into more classic role models.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  I would say: YES, IT MIGHT BE. But I would also say that everything can be learnt with patience, positivity, curiosity and 'can do' attitude.

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Spending long hours at the computer I often need to disconnect completely and recharge. I surf almost every day, practice and teach yoga, enjoy camping with friends & my old campervan called 'Cocoon'.
