About Abi

Since primary school I've always been very interested in language learning, languages are at the heart of everything that surrounds us and they enable us to much better understand each other and the world around us. In learning a language you learn so much more than just how to understand the words, you learn the importance of communication and you gain an understanding of another culture and way of life. That being said, I think language learning can be quite intimidating at times and I'd like everyone to know that they're capable of learning another language to whatever standard they desire. Learning a language should be enjoyable and interesting.

About the lesson

I'm very passionate about French and would love to share that with other learners. Typical lessons would be around 45mins-1hour. When tutoring I favour a fun real-life application approach, as I think this is a more authentic way to learn a language. To me this means using real-life resources such as books, films and music and I am happy to tailor this to the interests of the learner to make lessons more personal and engaging. I believe all aspects of language learning are important so I focus on all the skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I have two years experience working as a swimming teacher to children aged 3-16 and earlier this year I spent two weeks in France teaching English to children of all years within a French primary school. I'm very friendly and patient and would love to help anyone up to GCSE level who may be interested in improving their French for school or just as a hobby.
